Project Description

CT Wildlife

Mrs. Gauthier

An ongoing project in which 2nd grade students are creating a Connecticut Native Wildlife Museum which will contain taxidermy of animals native to Connecticut and information about them.

Butterfly Garden

Mrs. Apperson

2nd grade students are helping Mrs. Minor’s 1st grade learn about the lifecycle of Butterflies by installing a flower garden.

Technology

Mr. Davidson

The 7th grade is teaming up to help out the 3rd graders improve their computer skills. The 7th grade meets with the 3rd graders once a month. The goal by the end of the year is for the 3rd graders to put together a PowerPoint Presentation

Student ID Cards

Mrs. Gallagher

The tag students under advisors Mr. Wheeler and Mrs. Gallagher have been working on putting together an ID card system for use at LCS. The ID cards will be used for Lunch, Town Activities, Library, and much more. The ID card system is scheduled to begin in fall of 2007.

Wildlife Appreciation

The Environmental Club students are assisting 3rd grade students in using recycled materials to create bird feeders, bird houses and bird bedding boxes.

7th grade students will create a pamphlet for the Town Hall listing town resources and contact information.

Reading Resource

7th grade students will create a pamphlet for families outlining reading activities and helpful hints for reading success.

Lisbon Local Fun

7th grade students created a pamphlet that outlines local and regional family local regional and other activities or events designed to inspire quality family time.

Schoolyard Beautification

The students at LCS have planted & mulched 105 plants on the playground side of LCS. The 4th Grade students water the plants every day to keep them looking good.

Social Skills Education

Using information from their “Second Step” program, 6th grade students made puppets and created puppet shows about conflict resolution for the younger students

School Architecture/Design

Mrs. Nelson

Students identify town needs. They then draw designs of what was identified as a need. An example: A bus stop cover in the bus area.

Blankets for Babies

Mrs. Lang

7th grade students instructed other students in the  making fleece blankets which were donated to the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.
